Tennessee Workers Compensation Laws have been changed recently by the Tennessee Legislature. Most changes apply to injuries which occurred on or after July 1, 2004. Other changes become effective January 1, 2005, and some changes do not take effect until July 1, 2005.

These changes affect most benefits payable to injured employees. some changes increase those benefits, other changes reduce them.

It is essential that you obtain professional advice to protect your rights.

One of the most important provisions of the new law provides substantial compensation to an employee who has been injured on the job, and then fired or forced to quit because he or she can no longer perform to the satisfaction of the employer. The employee has up to eight years to exercise this right.

Numerous details and precise procedures are specified under the changes in the law. Time limits for giving notice to the employer have changed. Weekly benefits paid while an employee is unable to work increase annually.

Don't let these changes catch you off guard and don't miss out on anything you are entitled to.
