Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my personal injury lawsuit take?
Stillman & Friedland have years of experience bringing personal injury lawsuits to trial. We are diligent in achieving settlements we feel are fair for our clients and the injuries they have sustained. Because insurance companies often opt to settle based on what’s best for the insurance company, it is necessary to reject those offers and continue to pursue acceptable compensation for our client’s injuries and loss of wages.
What questions will be asked during deposition?
Expect questions pertaining to the injury as well as the circumstances that occurred causing you to sustain the injury. Recovery of an injury may be deterred due to previous illness or injury, so expect many questions regarding your past medical history as well.

How soon should I file a lawsuit?
Every State has their own statute of limitations, and there are different deadlines for different types of cases. Be sure you are aware of the state requirements in which the injury occurred.
How do I select a personal injury attorney?
First you want to find an attorney who is licensed to practice in the state where the injury transpired. Focus on the factors that are most important to you and do your research. Here are just a few areas that could be of importance:

How do personal injury law firm contingent fee contracts work?
A contingency fee allows the client to obtain legal representation without having to come up with any funds up front. This allows the client to pay his or her attorney a percentage of the award should the attorney win the case. The agreement between the client and the attorney will dictate status of payment.
